Today we went to Masada, a fortress built on the top of a mountain overlooking the Dead Sea. Dad hiked up and we took the cable car. There was a beautiful view and it was stinking hot. Then we all hiked down together. It was hard because of all the loose gravel and the stairs were a weird length apart. There was also a bunch of Israeli teenagers blocking the path! After Masada, we drove to a little town on the Dead Sea, and stopped at a public beach. We went into the water to cool off. It was really weird to sit in the water and float like it was zero gravity. It was fun, but also awkward to be in the water. The salt makes you skin dry and sticky.

The swimming looks beautiful and the dead sea is somewhere I would love to visit and now I want to hike there too when I see your pictures. Such an amazing adventure with your family.

Masada was King Herod's winter palace I was told. So when it was cooler in his Jerusalem palace he would move down and enjoy the warmer temperatures in the winter. Of course he didn't have a car. I wonder how he traveled?

Hi Molly! Looking forward to your next blog post! All is well here...unfortunately we lost the snow last week because of rain. Hopefully it will snow again soon!
