On Saturday Jean-Paul, Sophie, Louist, Molly and I went to see an art exhibit on clouds. Local royalty had offered up the use of their mansion gardens and out building to host the event. There were some strange and quirky pieces to look at, as well as some beautiful, creative, and interactive pieces. Molly's favourite was the fountain that had been modified to spray a misty cloud throughout the garden creating a very eerie effect. I have often said that I don't really care about being rich, but every now and then when I see that someone has the ability to use money to create something really beautiful, I find it hard not to covet a little. The gardens at this place were incredibly impressive. I could have sat on the bench and enjoyed them all day. After the exhibit, I joined our hosts and their friends for an evening out. The city of Mons is the "Cultural Capital of Europe" for 2015, so in light of this, the city is hosting many beautiful events. This included an outside dinner on the hilltop which was cooked by several local chefs. The setting was spectacular and the food and company were lovely as well. The weather, however, could have been warmer. Knowing how pathetically cold I am most days, I wore my long johns and 2 sweaters just in case: I was so glad that I did!
